Economic

Success isn’t simply about being financially accountable. We must consider the direct and indirect economic impacts that we have on our employees, communities, suppliers and customers. We’re passionate about growing our industry through STEM (science, technology, education and math) activities that will be responsible for building the next generation of innovators.

STEM Education Programs

We strongly believe STEM-related educational and research areas help generate community progress and fuel innovation, which is the very foundation of Doosan Bobcat in North America. These programs are fundamental to the company’s continued growth and success.

We’ve awarded multiple grants, in-class participation, production facility tours/field trips and scholarship programs to students at all educational levels — elementary, middle school, high school and college — located in and around the State of North Dakota.

Introduce a Girl To Engineering Events

Middle school girls take part in an engineering class.

One of the ways Doosan Bobcat contributes to STEM initiatives is through student growth programs. Employees invest in students and incent them to consider careers in STEM. Bobcat Company partners with NDSU to host events for 7th and 8th grade across North Dakota, where students learn engineering basics. During the events, students experience engineering methods hands on through several focused activities.

Teachers in Industry

Bobcat Company supports the Teachers in Industry internship program, designed to help educators develop an understanding of various work disciplines, including 21st century workplace skills; acquire knowledge of the engineering design process (EDP) and how it is used in a design-oriented technological environment; and incorporate company processes into a STEM-based learning lesson plan.

Doosan Discovery Grants

Doosan Bobcat presents a Doosan Discovery grant to a local school.

Each year, we award $500 Doosan Discovery grants to middle school classrooms in areas where Doosan and Bobcat Company have facilities. The elementary and middle school grants are used for projects focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics — all designed to improve, advance and enrich student learning.

Bobcat engineers, NDSU engineering students, and researchers at the school’s Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering collaborate on a variety of projects, exploring new product development, component testing and material characterization, while also working to improve manufacturing processes across the company’s global manufacturing facilities.

Internships

We began a research partnership with NDSU in 2005, becoming the anchor tenant at the NDSU Technology Incubator at the university’s Research and Technology Park.

Education Scholarships

Each year, we fund multiple individual scholarships to students in area institutions. Additionally, we’ve made significant contributions to endowments that will provide sustainable funding to students long into the future.

NDSU Scholarship Endowment

Bobcat Company executives present a STEM investment to North Dakota State University.

Doosan and Bobcat Company donated $3 million to NDSU to fund a STEM-related scholarship program. The State of North Dakota matched the donation — adding $1.5 million — making the combined $4.5 million the single largest scholarship endowment gift in school history. When fully funded, the endowment will distribute approximately $180,000 in scholarships per year in perpetuity, benefiting countless students and their families.

Doosan and Bobcat Company awards $1,000 scholarships to nine students (three representing each school) at Minnesota State Community and Technical College (M State – Moorhead), North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS – Wahpeton) and Bismarck State College (BSC). These technical schools are located in cities where Doosan and Bobcat Company have facilities.
